Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Rare Elephants (the "Site") collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it plain and short rather than padded with boilerplate.
The short version
You don't need an account to use this Site, and we don't ask you to hand over any personal information to search a ticker, view a chart, or run a valuation calculator. The Site does collect some standard technical information automatically (see below), and it may show ads served by third-party networks that use cookies of their own — that's the main thing this policy covers.
Information We Collect
We don't require registration and don't collect names, email addresses, or other personally identifying information through normal use of the Site. The exceptions are:
- Information you send us directly — if you email us (see Contact Us), we'll obviously have whatever information you choose to include in that message, including your email address.
- Standard technical logs — like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically logs basic technical information with each request (such as IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and timestamps) for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting. We don't use these logs to try to identify individual visitors.
Cookies and Advertising
The Site may display advertising served by third-party advertising companies, including Google AdSense. These companies may use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites, in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that may be of interest to you.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of a number of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. You can also block or delete cookies entirely through your browser's settings, though doing so may affect how some parts of the Site display ads.
Third-Party Links
The Site links out to third-party sites — most notably SEC.gov/EDGAR, the source of the Site's underlying financial data, and companies' own investor relations pages. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we don't control and this policy doesn't cover.
Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information (for example, by email), please contact us and we'll remove it.
Data Retention
Technical logs are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the security and troubleshooting purposes described above, and are not sold or shared for unrelated purposes. Emails sent to us are kept only as long as needed to address the message.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect as soon as they're posted to this page, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
