These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Rare Elephants (the "Site"). By visiting or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the Site.

1. What Rare Elephants Is

Rare Elephants is a free, publicly accessible tool that presents historical financial data for public companies — charts, ratios, and valuation calculators — built from information those companies have filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) through its EDGAR system. The Site is provided for informational and educational purposes only.

2. Not Investment Advice

Nothing on this Site constitutes investment, financial, tax, or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. The charts, ratios, screener results, and valuation calculators (including the DCF and Reverse DCF tools) are mechanical outputs of formulas applied to historical data and the assumptions you enter — they are not predictions, and they are not endorsements of any company or security. Any decision you make based on information from this Site is made entirely at your own risk, and you should consult a licensed financial or investment professional before making investment decisions.

3. Data Accuracy

We source data directly from SEC EDGAR and, for a small number of companies, from hand-entered figures we've transcribed from a company's own filings for finer detail than EDGAR's structured data provides. We make a good-faith effort to present this data accurately, but we make no warranty — express or implied — that any figure, chart, or calculation on the Site is complete, accurate, current, or free of error. Companies also restate, correct, or delay their own filings from time to time, and this Site may not reflect such changes immediately. Always verify any figure that matters to you against the company's original SEC filing before relying on it.

4. Advertising and Third Parties

The Site may display advertising served by third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense. These networks may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads; see our Privacy Policy for details. We don't control the content of third-party ads and aren't responsible for the products, services, or claims made in them. The Site may also link to external websites (including SEC.gov and individual companies' own investor relations pages) that we don't control and aren't responsible for.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download the Site's pages in a way that places excessive load on it;
  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Site or the systems behind it;
  • Misrepresent data from the Site as official SEC or company-issued material; or
  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose.

6. Intellectual Property

The Site's design, layout, charts, and original written content are the property of Rare Elephants and may not be reproduced or redistributed without permission. The underlying financial data itself originates from public SEC filings and isn't owned by us; you remain free to obtain that same data directly from SEC EDGAR.

7. No Warranty; Limitation of Liability

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rare Elephants and its operator will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or other damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or any data it presents — including, without limitation, any investment losses.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect as soon as they're posted to this page, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where the Site's operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
